Ask an Idaho mobile home transporter to review the home as a road load, including its eaves, tongue and axles. The state has specific own-axle provisions, so a nominal home size alone is not enough to establish the hauling plan.
Measure the base, eaves and tongue separately
For homes towed on their own axles, section 314 of the ITD special permit rules sets limits of 80 feet including the tongue, 16 feet at the base and 18 feet overall including eaves. These are different measurements, not interchangeable descriptions of the home.
Label the measurements you supply instead of sending an unexplained number from an old listing. If the tongue is missing, the roof has been altered or the dimensions are estimates, tell the transporter. Ask it to identify what must be checked on site before its proposed equipment and price can be confirmed.
A 16-foot base width changes the equipment check
The same own-axle provisions require a home with a 16-foot base width to have at least four axles, with brakes on at least three. The rule also addresses the condition and compliance of the running gear. A home that fits the dimensional limits is not automatically ready to tow.
Send clear pictures of the underside where safely accessible, and describe any known missing wheels or damage. Let a qualified transporter assess roadworthiness; do not attempt an under-home inspection or equipment repair just to complete a quote form. Ask whether an inspection is included, separately charged or required before an offer becomes firm.

The ITD permit guide directs special commercial permit applications to the state-linked online system. Ask who will arrange the applicable permission and confirm the route before departure. A quotation or a portal account is not evidence that your particular movement has been approved.
