Identify the home
Know whether the home is single-section or multi-section, its approximate dimensions, year/condition, and whether the request is transport-only.

Moving a mobile or manufactured home is an oversize transport job, not an ordinary household move. Start with the home, route and access details that actually shape the job, then call or continue online with our approved transport partner.
HUD describes manufactured homes as factory-built dwellings transported in one or more sections on a permanent chassis. When a home is relocated, HUD advises owners to check the authorities that govern transportation and placement because state rules can regulate size, weight and width on public roads.

Pickup and delivery access can matter as much as the line-haul distance. Narrow roads, slopes, turns, trees, gates and overhead clearance can change the plan.
Oversize moves may require permits, route review or escorts. The transporter has to match the home and equipment to the legal and practical route.
A useful quote starts with a move brief. Exact requirements vary, but these details give the transport partner enough context to evaluate the job instead of guessing from ZIP codes alone.
In everyday search language, “mobile home” is often used broadly. HUD uses a more specific definition: homes built after June 15, 1976 to the federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards are manufactured homes, while older factory-built homes are commonly called mobile homes. Modular homes are different again: HUD guidance notes that modular construction follows applicable state and local building codes rather than the HUD Code.
For quote planning, the label matters because the construction type, section configuration and transport method can change the equipment and coordination required. Our separate modular home movers guide explains that distinction without pretending every factory-built home moves the same way.
Mobile Move Quotes supports nationwide mobile and manufactured-home transport quote planning. Selected local guides add location-specific permit, route or access information where it is useful. A city does not need its own guide for you to request a nationwide transport quote.
The locations hub is a discovery resource for selected local guides, not a map of the only places served.
The biggest pricing variables include the home configuration, distance, permits, escort requirements, pickup access, delivery access and the requested scope. A-1 Auto Transport currently publishes a broad local planning figure of about $5-$15 per mile and notes that long-distance or multi-section relocations can exceed $10,000. Those figures are not a quote and may include different service assumptions; use them only as a rough benchmark before a move-specific estimate.
