Hickory’s manufactured-home standards expressly cover individual lots, replacement homes and park placements. Before arranging transport, have city staff review the home and receiving setting; the required perimeter enclosure differs between a park placement and an individual lot.
Two receiving offices
Hickory handles zoning; Catawba County handles building review for the receiving project.
Replacement still needs review
An existing home does not establish that the incoming replacement satisfies the applicable standards.
What changes with the destination setting
Under the Hickory use regulations, park homes require skirting resistant to rust and decay. Homes on individual lots require a continuous permanent masonry foundation or masonry curtain wall beneath the perimeter. These are receiving-plan requirements to discuss with the city and your installation contractor, not work to assume is included in hauling.

The same section includes other home appearance and access criteria. Its treatment of park placements does not waive all design requirements, and an existing home on a lot does not by itself establish that any replacement will qualify.
Request transport to your Hickory site
Share the home dimensions, sections and exact lot or park-space address. The transport inquiry does not include foundation work, setup or utility connections.
Where the review belongs
The Hickory Permit Center page identifies the city’s zoning role and explains that Catawba County enforces the state building code within Hickory’s jurisdiction. Bring the proposed home details and site information to the city Permit Center so staff can identify the plans and county review needed for that address.
Ask for a clear answer on the proposed receiving arrangement before the home leaves its present site. A transport date should follow that project-specific review, rather than rely on the fact that a previous unit fitted the space.
