Hammond's development code calls for an application before a mobile home is moved into the city for occupancy, and Building staff must know the intended move date. It also requires proof that the landowner has legally permitted placement. Establish those records and confirm the required pre-move authorization with Building before dispatch.
Permission to use the land
The application needs proof that the landowner legally permits the placement.
Proposed date, not clearance
Give Building the intended move date; submission is not authorization to deliver.
The current Hammond planning page links the Hammond Unified Development Code. Its mobile-home provisions distinguish application and move notification from the placement, inspection and occupancy steps. Do not treat a submitted application as permission to bring the home onto the property.
Have Building confirm the stage that must be complete before travel
Explain whether the home is coming from outside Hammond or relocating within the city, and whether it replaces an existing home. Ask staff which authorization must be issued before movement and what evidence of landowner permission belongs in the file. The Hammond building department page provides the current application entry point.
Coordinate the Hammond move date with the approval record
Provide the origin, receiving parcel, home details and city application status. Identify the person handling landowner permission and ask the transporter how outstanding approvals affect scheduling.
- When a move date is proposed or changed, make sure the city contact and transporter have the same information.
- Keep the receiving address and home identity consistent across the application, permission record and haul request.
Any placement, anchoring, utility and occupancy work remains a separate part of the receiving project. Agree who is responsible for those steps so the transport booking does not imply that the home will be ready to occupy on delivery.
